A year ago my impression of a retirement village was that of a dull, slow existence, just vegetating while waiting to “take off” for another, hopefully, better place.

Coming to statistics live at Bindawalla gardens/Kurrajong Sanctuary changed all that. I would never have believed that life could be so satisfying. Far from dull it’s a bit like living in a resort.

Enough activities to keep the most dedicated sports enthusiast happy. Two pools, tennis, golf putting, bowls and treatment for social anxiety even croquet. Whilst for the more sedentary there is an excellent library with 3 computers and a craft room.

For the socially minded every Friday there is dinner at the community centre there is also bingo, trivia and umpteen other activities as well as outings to the theatre for special shows.

Wonderful neighbours who soon become friends, and far from vegetating, just watch us kick up our heels until well past midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Old we may be but certainly not past our “use by” date. Why, sometimes even romance blossoms amongst our singles.

A new lease on life and a dream location, WOW! Who’d have thought it?

We enjoyed our first evening in peace...

As we enjoyed our first evening in peace, quiet and security in Bindawalla Garden’s lovely bush setting, we agreed that our move to here was the best thing that we had ever done.

It didn’t take long to realise the choice health and fitness other benefits; cheaper than living in our apartment, the advantage of a handy bus service to local Shopping Centres, and not far away from beaches at Redcliffe and the Sunshine Coast.

There are many other facilities at Bindawalla Gardens, including our favourites, two beautiful swimming pools.
