Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be retired to live at Bindawalla Gardens?

No. Bindawalla Gardens welcomes anyone over the age of 50. Whether you are retired or working is entirely your own business.

Will I own the home?

Yes.

Do I have to pay rates or body corporate fees?

No. The only fee applicable is a fortnightly site fee to cover the license fee, which in turn allows you to occupy your site.

As a home owner, what other expenses will I be responsible for?

Home owners are responsible for public utilities such as telephone, electricity, gas, water and insurance.

How long do site agreements last?

As a home owner, you are protected by the Manufactured Homes (Residential Parks) Act 2003. The site agreements are perpetual until termination by the home owner.

Am I entitled to receive rent assistance?

This will depend on whether you are currently receiving a government benefits. If you are you will receive rent assistance, if you are not, we suggest contacting the Centerlink or Department of Veterans Affairs to see if you are eligible.

Will I be required to pay extra site fees if I have visitors?

No. However, there is a limit to the length of time your visitor may stay.

Am I allowed to have pets?

You are able to keep a small bird or fish but dogs and cats are not permitted.

Can I make alterations to the homes once I have moved in?

Yes, by all means. Any additions and exterior alterations simply require the written approval of the park owner.

Am I allowed to rent my homes?

No.

Do you have a community bus?

No. Regular public transport is available at the Bindawalla Gardens gate. However, there is a shopping bus that calls once a week.
